In today’s world, students must prepare themselves for a wide range of college and work opportunities. All students want to lead a happy life and enjoy the good things the world has to offer. Our students will certainly be provided a quality education. This year I am working with our junior high students as they learn and master a wide range of 21st Century Skills.

Our first week of school was filled with eager students who shared a little about their summer break. My 8th Grade Audio Video and my 6th Grade Computer Science classes had no idea so many different "adjectives" could be used to describe a summer vacation.
Each class worked together as we created our "Class Social Contract". Students worked in teams as they created the list of social norms we will abide by or follow this year. A class picture was taken for our contract. As our Social Contracts"are signed and laminated for display next week, pictures will be posted here for all to see.
Being gone one day this week, students were left with an independent learning activity to familiarize them with high school terms. This activity still needs further review and reinforcement for student understanding and mastery.
Our next unit as we roll into next week, will have us involved in the learning of Online Safety and Digital Citizenship.

Here we are back to school. Training, training, training is the norm. Getting ready is fun and I look forward to a new year with the 6th graders. This year, your child will be involved in the world of Computer Science. Students will be exposed to Python programming, HTML Coding for webpages and students will also create Apps for android devices using the MIT App Inventor On-Line programming system.
Stay tuned weekly for updates on what is going on in class.
