In today’s world, students must prepare themselves for a wide range of college and work opportunities. For our students who want to lead a happy life and enjoy the good things the world has to offer, all of our students will certainly need a quality education. This year I am working with our junior high students as we learn about Computer Programming. Students in my “Coding” class will be writing and creating programs using the Python programming language. Students will also learn Block style programming for Android Phones and Tablets using the online MIT App Inventor system.
In other various courses I am teaching, students will learn a wide range of technology applications such as MS-Word, MS-Excel, hardware and software concepts along with basic video editing and production. Students will be introduced to 3D design and 3D Printing. All students in my classes will have ample opportunity to learn and practice 21st Century Skills throughout the semester and year.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
The week before Thanksgiving, students in the 8th Grade Audio/Video Class completed a couple of videos. One was for our Hero/Halloween Dress days of red Ribbon Week. These were completed and put on-line on the Joecorona.net website. A couple of these students created a Llano Game Pep Rally video.
Another video completed and added was our annual History Day.
The 6th Grade Computer Science students completed a couple of Apps with "Textboxes" and "Buttons". Type in phrase and push a button to speak the phrase. While a simple place to start, all students had an opportunity to learn, practice and master what they are learning.
The videos on the video page are in chronological order so some of the new videos are a few from the top. Scroll down a bit and you will find them.

Week 12 (November 9, 2015)In the process of learning to program Apps with MIT App Inventor, 6th Grade Computer Science students learn a wide range of skills. The first App they created has been modified and enhanced. Videos will be available this week since the final step of this assignment is a demonstration of their working App.
The 6th Grade Audio/Video Class is currently working on 2 videos. One is a Pep Rally Video from awhile back. The other is a "Super Hero / Halloween Costume" day video. Both will be available this week as they wrap up their work with Pinnacle Studio.

Week 11 (November 2, 2015)Last week, the Audio/Video Students completed their first video using a wide range of resources. This week students are finishing up a "Stop Motion" video. They will use Windows Movie Maker for this project. Once complete, these students will begin and work on one of two projects. A "Pep Rally" video and a "Super Hero" video I have not had time to complete.
6th graders will begin "App Inventor" programming this week. Over the next few weeks, if your child has an Android tablet or phone, they will learn and be able to showcase the apps they create anywhere and at anytime.
