In today’s world, students must prepare themselves for a wide range of college and work opportunities. For our students who want to lead a happy life and enjoy the good things the world has to offer, all of our students will certainly need a quality education. This year I am working with our junior high students as we learn about Computer Programming. Students in my “Coding” class will be writing and creating programs using the Python programming language. Students will also learn Block style programming for Android Phones and Tablets using the online MIT App Inventor system.

In other various courses I am teaching, students will learn a wide range of technology applications such as MS-Word, MS-Excel, hardware and software concepts along with basic video editing and production. Students will be introduced to 3D design and 3D Printing. All students in my classes will have ample opportunity to learn and practice 21st Century Skills throughout the semester and year.

The 6th Graders continue their work with Python programming.  Students are really doing a great job of debugging their programs and getting them up and running.  We hope to wrap up this unit next week with tons of sample programs to showcase.

The 8th Graders worked on a video to show what was done during "Public School Week".  Videos will be showcased soon.  As we conclude this project, students will have videos for our Kickball Tournament, Moms and Dads visit, Lunch with Parents and the Showcase Night at the elementary school.  I am looking forward to the completion of the videos so we can get them online for your viewing.

This week's newscast is on-line and ready for viewing:  Click Here  This weeks news team consisted of Isaiah Medrano, Caleb Sevier and Max Perez.

Stayed tuned.

Week 25 (February 29, 2016

During "Public School Week" students were pretty busy.

6th Grade Computer Science students completed a series of Python programming exercises. With each exercise, students are learning and mastering the process of typing, debugging and running Python Programs.

8th graders were busy this week working on a video with pointers and tips to help students prepare for the "STAAR" test.  The videos are near completion and as the videos are completed on Monday or Tuesday, I hope to post them for all students to see and learn from.
